Is there really such a thing? Sometimes I laugh when I think about it, or how I would define it. Still, in my gut, I believe in it. I believe it’s a state of mind we can strive for and sometimes manifest. For me it’s seeking balance – there is no ‘work-life.’ As an entrepreneur, my business work and life are one. Aside from moments I feel like a wacko on a rollercoaster, almost all of the time I consider myself lucky for this alignment. Professional and personal self is one. Is that balance?
I write to you about Work-Life-Balance as I have been invited to be a guest speaker by Women of Influence as a panelist on this very of-the-moment subject for young women, ‘Work-Life-Balance’ next week. I am looking forward to this opportunity to share with young women my experience, from a yogi/entrepreneur/newly married woman perspective.
It’s an evening series hosted by Young Women of Influence – it will be a great night of discussion and debate with an informed and savvy crowd of Toronto women. Is peaceful balance possible? Can you “do it all” – and what does that mean, anyways? How do you measure balance? Is it getting worse or better for young women where the pressure is as high as ever to be everything. How can we practice?
Young Women of Influence is designed specifically for emerging women in business, and the Young Women of Influence Evening Series is dedicated to connecting like-minded professionals for advancement. Here are the details for a fun, informative ladie’s night on the town:

“The elusive balance: Who’s got it, and how can you get it?” They say balance doesn’t exist… but we’ve got to believe there is a unique recipe for every woman who strives to achieve greatness in all areas. So, we are calling in the experts, or rather a professionally diverse and amazing group of women to discuss how they do it. Join us as we peak into the lives of those who have mastered the art of balancing professional and personal lives, finding happiness and success in ways that work for them, and moderated by a woman who can ask the tough questions.
Panel:
Christine Russell, CEO and co-founder 889 Yoga; From the corporate ladder to entrepreneur + wellness advocate
Cindy Mielke, Director of Marketing, West 49; A woman who’s working hard and loving it.
Grace Palombo LLB, Vice President Human Resources TD Bank; Flexing the corporate life to fit her home life.
I love Women of Influence – started by a fellow entrepreneurial woman with vision and passion, Carolyn Lawrence – and am honoured and humbled to be taking part. I look forward to inspiring young women to tap in and find their own balance.
